School system of school systems

Like the Finnish educational board says in their homepage: “The main objective of Finnish education policy is to offer all citizens equal opportunities to receive education, regardless of age, domicile, financial situation, sex or native language. Education is considered to be one of the fundamental rights of all citizens.” I personally think that the Finnish school system should be called king of school systems.

Personally I like being in school because it is somehow homey in there. Because the schools in Finland are many times smaller than in many other countries in the world so the teachers are able to communicate more friendly with the students and the quality of the teaching is really great due the small teaching groups. That is one big reason for the success of Finnish school system.

A lot of the achievements of our school system comes from the test results of our pupils and students. One key to success is absolutely childhood. In kindergarten and in pre-school the children are thought how to communicate with others and they are being prepared for whole life lasting education.
In our society education is the alpha and omega in labour market but when the pupils come to teenage the hormones involve in to the play. Teens do not want to study and want to riot against everything possible. It is a bad thing for their future because if you “hate” school and think it is a prison your grades will go down like a Stuka on bombing run. Without good grades you might not be able to get to the school you want. Gladly this happens only to a small per cent of pupils in Finland.

Comprehensive school gives you all the tools you need in further studying but from the beginning of our school career we nag about one thing: Food. Nutrition keeps you sharp and you come happier with full stomach. The school meals are free for pupils because they are paid by tax funds. But the quality of the meals varies from school to school. Finnish government spends around 50 cents/per student/per meal and in prison the price is almost tripled! This has been a big topic here but nothing has changed unfortunately.

There is flaws in our system but the fact that it is famed all around the world and our school system is tried to be copycatted all around the world. That is one big achievement from Finland as a nation and a society and I am really proud that Finland is on the top of the food chain when it comes to education. I am really proud that I am going school here in Finland.

The first of May fever

You can't walk in school corridors and avoid hearing something about 1st of May! My and everybody else's opinion is that it's no good to have school on Monday as usual. Vocational schools  have Monday alsohave Monday off. Still. I think that in the end the vocational schoolers have to be in school longer and nothing makes me feel better than seeing a vocational schooler wait for bus to school.( I don't have anything against vocational schoolers!!)

Happy first of May to everyone!

The unmotivated students

I've noticed that really many student has been talking about summer holidays and and they're missing the motivation to study at the moment. This is pretty shocking for me because I've always thought that if you go to upper secondary school there can't be lack of intrest in studying otherwise the grades will go down like North-Korean missile! I must admit that I'm waiting for summer holidays but I've got summer work straight after schools ending, so I feel like I've got 3 more months to go until holidays. Afterall Holidays are needed to keep you going.

You are what you think

What makes us, the human rece, superior compared to other species sharing earth? My opinion is our brain and to be more exact the ability to think about our future. Well of course chipmanzees can think also, but they think only for the event that's going on. So there's no doubt that thinking has made human what it is today.
Thinking also makes everyone of us one of a kind inside our own species. Some people have shaped our history really extremely, like Adolf Hitler and Anders Breivik.
Anyways everyone in our exe group thinks differently and every single thinksin their own way and because of that everyone has their own opinions.

Glory of volunteer fire fighting!

My hobby is volunteer fire fighting and I’ve been keen to it now for almost 7 years, and I enjoy it with all of my heart. I’m really dedicated to my hobby and in my thoughts it’s one of the noblest hobbies I know, correct me if I’m wrong!
Fire fighting has always been my interest because when I was 5 years old, I already wanted to be a fire fighter. But when I tried to start my hobby, I was told that you must be at least ten years old to start fire fighting the required age for volunteer fire fighting is ten. When I started volunteer fire fighting I was introduced to all the new rules that are involved in this new hobby (professional secrecy about all fire alarms and rescue operations I heard at the fire house.) Trainers found me considerably “better” than others who trained with me and asked me to join the junior competition team and I obviously couldn’t refuse! We trained 3 times per week for junior competitions and Finnish junior championships. That time we came 9th. Two years ago our (newer) youth team came 5th and I was the team leader.
For now I’ve been training with the alarm department and it’s close to how professional fire fighters are training! I’m waiting to get to extinguish my first fire! I’m keen in fire fighting and the other volunteers are like brothers to me. I’m not going to try and recruit you to be volunteer fire fighter but like an advertisement for common good, from my point of view:
I hope that teens would be more into fire fighting because more than 60% of Finnish fire departments and fire fighters are purely voluntary and in whole of Finland average garrison/department is dropping so we need new fire fighters ASAP! You'll learn lots of important skills like extinguishing small fires and some first-aid! Of course you’ll get bunch on new great friends, your social skills will grow when you co-operate with other fire man and other authorities! (And of course chicks)

That’s all for now PK37 out.

Pickpocket in Paris

In this blog I’m going to tell you about my trip to Paris 7 years ago, even though I was just a small kid back then. We were in a metro from Eiffel tower to our hotel to go and pick our money for Disneyland. When we boarded the metro a pickpocket came and opened my mom’s bag and just grabbed something from there. We realized it after we got out of the metro that she had been pickpocketed and straight away she started to check what was missing and apocalypse fell upon us! The thief had taken our Disneyland tickets!! Boy that I was mad.. Never the less we went to our hotel and reported about this criminality that had happened to us and we got new tickets to Disneyland for free. I’m still really glad that the thief didn’t catch her wallet! Even after this accident I still think that the holiday in Paris was awesome and I’d like to go to Paris again someday.

Youth and how I experience it

What is youth for teenagers here in Finland? Is it just trying to be cool and being a rebel for everybody? I think that there aren't so much of teen hooligan s around (1/ 50) and afterall adults treat everysingle teen like they were some sort of plague. Don't adults realize that they've been young once and it's something that never happens again so they should treat us more like adults, not like young kids.

That was how I think about youth. Universally today youth is freedom to do everything you want, go and come how you want, choose your own group of people. Let's compare two countries: Finland and Singapore. In Finland teens aged sixteen mostly hang around with their friends having fun just like Singaporean teens do. There

s a differences between Finnish and Singaporean teens in how they spend their time. While Finnish teens hang around cities and usually smoke or drink in Singapore teens go to movies or play games together for instance.

For me the youth means that you’re allowed to go and come have private space for your own thoughts and wishes. My teenage is completely different from my parents; My dad was born in 1938 so he didn’t have a teenage like we do today. My mom was born in the 50’s and she had a some sort of teenage. They’re banning almost everything they can think. If I get a bad grade from a exam they give me some sort of penalty. That is somehow unfair so after they give me penalty I do something that makes them wonder that was it fair to give him a penalty even when he tried his best. Teenage is time of life when you have the guts to do everything that comes to your mind. I love it and I wish that everybody could be teen for longer time. Celebrate the youth when your young!
